MACRO TEST SHOTS

It is very import to me to include imagery that fully show cases my skill in detailed makeup application along side displaying unique visual art through out my website. After my tutorial with Elizabeth she pushed me to test the use of different camera equipment and lighting to see what could be achieved.
These images are just very simple test shots using the 5D camera that captures an exceptional amount of definition. Although I think this style of photography, it does not wow me. I think taking really tight close up to display make-up is very run of the mill and frankly not that interesting. Taking imagery so close up restricts my creative freedom. At this stage in the production of my online exhibition I am really starting to question my role as a creative, the more I research and play with different techniques the more I am finding myself drawn to over creative outputs than just 'plain' make-up. As a creative I feel like I want to break away from the norm, I want to display something exceptionally original to an audience that will become utterly perplexed by my visual translation of a highly conceptual idea. I want to challenge myself, to push the boundary and redefine what the role of a make-up artist should be. This make-up does display skill, but it lacks the innovation and originality of my previous imagery.
After experimenting with the 5D camera I was amazed by how much quality could be captured, even from a distance. Moving forward I plan to shoot the rest of my work using this camera. This will allow me to have flexibility to crop some images as well as having the freedom of capturing the whole scene rather than just small sections. Having the option to choose after will be a great advantage. The way I am planning to arrange the images on the site is to have a variety of shots from each series that are varied slightly, being able to zoom in on areas of detail will mean I can fit the imagery together in a very coherent way.
